To Keto – or Not to Keto…….

Keto Diet

Everybody’s doing the keto diet. It’s a cultural craze that’s captured our imagination.

But let’s remember that the ketogenic diet is a medical, or therapeutic, diet. So while it’s extremely beneficial for people with certain conditions, it’s not for everyone.

What do you eat on the keto diet?

The keto diet is essentially a high-fat diet — your meals are 70 or 80 percent fat; about 20 percent protein; and about 5 percent carbohydrate. It is not an Atkins high-protein diet.

The keto diet switches you from burning glucose (which carbs provide) to burning ketones (which fat produces) for energy. When you do this, interesting things happen:

  • Your metabolism speeds up.
  • Your hunger goes away.
  • Your muscle mass increases.
  • Your blood pressure and heart disease risk profile improve.

Why will eating fat help you burn fat?

Biology is smart. Historically, it allowed our bodies to adapt to times of abundance or scarcity by shifting from carbohydrate metabolism to fat metabolism.

The key is this: Eating fat does not make your insulin go up, as eating carbs or protein does. So the keto diet does not spike your insulin, and you don’t store fat. Instead, you burn it, creating the ketones that give you an effective and efficient metabolic jolt.

Many of my clients struggle with sourcing Keto type foods, I direct them to the PanetOrganic Keto Shop page.

Individual Success: Stop Beating Yourself UP! – You’re Doing Just Fine!

Chakra

Success is a personal thing, we each allocate a level of success to individual tasks we accomplish throughout the day , through to enormous challenges that may take months possibly years to achieve. Not only do we decide if we have ‘succeeded’ we subconsciously set a standard to which we wish our success of the tasks to reflect.

From the moment we open our eyes we are subconsciously checking off routine unconscious actions/tasks, such as shower, brush teeth, prepare packed lunch, drive the car. Each of these actions has a set standardised level of success we personally allocate to it. The outcome/result of that task/action will impact on our emotive self.

Self sabotage is a trending term, many empowerment gurus use it, basically it suggests that the individual is using negative internal thoughts to prevent taking action. This is commonly seen when individuals attempt to move out of their ‘comfort zone’, take on new roles etc. It is primarily driven by fear, which is often a deep rooted emotion from our younger years, a learnt behaviour from our peers or those we held in high esteem.

Breaking inner fears can often provoke further fear and self sabotaging thoughts can become life controlling in as such they influence external behaviours and may potentially impact negatively on the individuals health.

So how do we stop ‘beating ourselves up’, stop setting unrealistic goals and crazy inner fear frenzies. Unfortunately there is no simple quick fix solution, but there are multiple proven techniques that have transformed individuals lives way beyond their own expectations.

Below are a few of my favourite self- help books that I have at some stages in my life referred to and developed from its content. It is important to remember that each one of us is individual and unique in our own styles and characteristics so not all the contents within the books will work, though I compiled my own self-help routine taking bits from multiple resources. I wish you well on your journey to finding your own success at a standard that is correct for you.
